The One Stop Sustainability Shop (TOSSS) inspires, educates and supports customers who wish to make wiser purchasing choices. TOSSS sells items that are non-toxic, made of sustainable materials, fair-trade and as locally as possible for affordable prices. The store only deals with manufacturers who are environmentally and socially responsible.

What is sustainability?

As defined by the UN World Commission on Environment and Development in 1987, sustainability is “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

How can I live a sustainable life? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

But I need toilet paper, lightbulbs, computer paper, shoes, notebooks for school!!!!

Sure, we all need stuff; it’s about what you buy, who you buy it from, what the product is made of, how it is made, where it is manufactured and what happens to the product when it is worn out. In other words, the product lifecycle. As Ellis Jones says in The Better World Shopping Guide, “As consumers, we vote every single day with the purest form of power…money. The average American family spends around $18,000 every year on goods and services. Think of it as casting 18,000 votes every year for the kind of world you want to live in.”

It can be confusing when navigating store aisles looking for sustainable products. “Green” and “sustainable” have become marketing buzzwords to describe a multitude of products. Today’s consumers have less time to distinguish authentic sustainable products from those whose claims fall short. TOSSS aims to replace consumer fustration with confidence by providing ample background information on all store items and their lifecycles.

We’ll do the research, you do the shopping!
